The Return of the King: Manumission Reclaims Ibiza for 2026

For some, it’s a legend. For others, it’s a hazy, beautiful memory. But for those of us who were there on the front lines, the announcement of Manumission’s return is the homecoming we’ve been waiting for since 2006.

The Legend Reborn

Between 1995 and 2006, Manumission wasn’t just a party; it was a global phenomenon. Officially the biggest and best party on the planet, it earned its place in the Guinness Book of Records (peaking in August 1999) for the largest weekly attendance in clubbing history.

As the CEO of Ibiza Unlocked, this news hits home. My journey with this island truly began in 1998, working alongside the creative whirlwinds that are Mike, Andy McKay, and Claire. To see them reunited for this 2026 extravaganza is a full-circle moment for the island’s heritage.

Le Weekend: Three Days of Freedom

This isn’t a residency; it’s an event series designed to recapture the “old kind of energy” that made Ibiza famous. Dubbed “Le Weekend Manumission,” the team is taking over three iconic venues from September 25th to 27th, 2026:

• 528 Ibiza (San Antonio): The theatrical heart of the weekend.
• Pikes Ibiza: An Intimate affair for the originals.
• Bar M (Ibiza Rocks): Returning to the roots of the San Antonio waterfront.

Expect the unexpected: theatrical spectacles, superstar guest DJs (the kind only the McKay contact book can pull), and that signature “free to do whatever you want” atmosphere.

From the Privilege Pit to the Bora Bora Sands

The memories of that era are etched into the island’s stone. We remember the marathon sessions: starting at Privilege, moving to the legendary Space Carry-on on Tuesday mornings, and eventually rolling into Bora Bora on Tuesday afternoons. It was a time of “Madness,” but it was also where the deepest friendships were forged.

While the “Carry-on” culture has evolved, the spirit remains. This three-week window of events will undoubtedly be the highlight of the 2026 season.

Welcome back, Mike, Andy, and Claire. The island has missed you.
