As anyone who has ever spent a Halloween in Ibiza will know, this most fiendish of fiestas is a seriously big deal here on the White Isle. For many island residents and workers it marks the end of another incredible yet intense summer, and offers the chance to really let loose, dress up and dance all the stresses and strains of the summer away. And of course this year was no exception. Here at Ibiza Unlocked, we took on the formidable task of attending three of the most evil events to bring you our review of the naughtiest night of the summer so far..

The big news on the street this year was the iconic MediterrAsian restaurant Bambuddha Grove decided to hand over their Halloween crown this year. Having been the undisputed ruler of creating the biggest and best Halloween party on the island for over a decade, they decided hand over this honour to others, and those who took on the challenge did it in spectacularly spooky style.

MISCHIEF does Halloween at Atzaro

And so, in the North, the one place everyone was talking about was Atzaro. The usually idyllic agroturismo was transformed into a dramatically deathly spectacle of spooks, ghouls and fiends. The decor by GnT productions was simply spectacular, with tombstones and eerie lanterns lighting the way down past the Bloody River, leading us to the dancefloor, aptly named the Dungeon of Doom. Here, MISCHIEFmaker DJ´s jUsTom & Blackbeard were joined by DJ Joshua and Jo Mills with the uber talented Dan Young on percussion to create a suitably scary soundtrack to the night, a cheeky and upbeat mix of beats which had everyone one dancing. Tarot readers, themed food stalls and fabulous makeup provided by In Your Dreams Ibiza, Katy Gill & Natalie Wood plus costumes by MINX FX ensured that this was a night not to be forgotten. A costume competition offering a spa day for 2 in Atzaro ensured that everyone was dressed to kill. We can´t wait for the next Mischief event, and the boys have promised to keep us entertained all winter long!

The Brothers Grim Present – The Haunted Hotel at Pikes

The party team at Pikes never fail to disappoint when it comes to putting on an event which will blow your mind. And for the most ghoulish night of the year, they pulled out all the stops, with the iconic venue benefitting from a malicious makeover, with live performances, bloodcurdling scenery and a heartstoppingly hot set from Bushwacka! which ensured that every devil in the house was dancing! Some of the usual suspects who regularly grace the decks of Pikes were also upping the tempo, including Leon Vynehall, Simon Morrell, Blondewearingblack, Artwork, Jon Woodall, Milou, Camilo Miranda, and, of course, The Brothers Grim themselves.  The Haunted Hotel was packed to the rafters with some of the spookiest characters of the island, and the atmosphere was electric. Another frighteningly good feather in the cap of this historic Ibiza venue.

Halloween 17 pres. The Psycho-Delic Circus at Boutique Hostal Salinas

The infamous afterparty to end all afterparties, the carry on of Halloween celebrations at Boutique Hostal Salinas has become a true Ibiza institution, with many hardcore partygoers even foregoing the earlier events and saving all their energy for this most ghoulish of goings on. This is where the freaks come out, and with Ryan O´Gorman and the BHS crew at the helm, the Psycho-Delic Circus rolled into town with a fanfare of fiends, killer clowns, bearded ladies, animal trainers. In Ibiza, we all love to dress up, and on Halloween, the party people really go to town, with some of the freakishly frightening outfits and makeup transformations making it impossible to recognise even some of our closest friends! As the sun came up, the vampish vibe was unbeatable, with a frightening flock of freaks dancing to welcome the dawn. In charge of the musical menu were Robert James, Ryan O´Gorman, Clive Henry b2b with Alex Arnold, and the legendary Alfredo closing the party with an epic set which ensured the energy was nothing less than electric. A freak show to see out the season with a bang, carried off with sublime style in their own inimitable way.

Congratulations to everyone who hosted, danced and celebrated Halloween in true Ibiza style, we most certainly enjoyed every second!
